Our Terms & Conditions

The Standards Authority for Touch in Cancer Care (SATCC) is a registered charity dedicated to supporting those affected by cancer by improving access to safe, appropriate touch therapies.

It provides recognised training standards and maintains a register of SATCC Touch for Cancer approved spas, salons and therapists as well as providers of accredited training programmes.

The SATCC is a trusted and accessible source of information for both industry professionals and individuals living with, through and beyond cancer.

Terms & Conditions (Employers & Therapists)

  1. Our Commitments

The SATCC is committed to:

  • providing national minimal practice Standards that are easy to interpret for the creation and development of advanced training courses to equip qualified therapists with the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be able to welcome people living with, through and beyond cancer;
  • providing Standards that are clearly structured to identify the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to develop therapists’ competence;
  • providing Standards that are fit for purpose, industry specific and insurable;
  • providing a list of SATCC Touch for Cancer approved accrediting organisations to training providers seeking accreditation;
  • publishing a register of approved, accredited training providers who are deemed to have met the SATCC Touch for Cancer Standards;
  • providing the SATCC logo as a ‘stamp of approval’ to relevant parties, subject to compliance with these Terms and Conditions;
  • ensuring those affected by cancer have access to touch therapies carried out in accordance with SATCC Touch for Cancer Standards;
  • providing the public with a database of therapists, salons and spas offering treatments by therapists who are deemed, via the process of accreditation and approval, to have been trained in accordance with the SATCC Touch for Cancer Standards;
  • providing final approval to accredited training providers prior to their inclusion on the SATCC website; and
  • including approved providers of accredited training on the SATCC website.

All approvals and decisions are made under the authority and oversight of the SATCC Board of Trustees, in accordance with the charity’s constitution.

  1. Approved Therapists and Employers

SATCC Approved Therapists and their Employers agree to:

  • welcome people living with, through and beyond cancer to receive treatments that meet SATCC Touch for Cancer Standards, delivered by therapists trained by an approved provider of accredited training;
  • be listed on the SATCC website as premises where treatments for those living with, through and beyond cancer are available;
  • maintain all records in accordance with the Data Protection Act (DPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR);
  • comply with all applicable Health and Safety Legislation and Regulation as required by law;
  • promote and protect the good reputation of the SATCC;
  • display the SATCC logo only in accordance with SATCC’s brand use guidance and immediately cease use if approval is withdrawn or lapses;
  • hold required insurance to be able to provide treatments to meet the SATCC Standards;
  • notify SATCC without delay of any significant changes, including but not limited to changes in ownership, premises, insurance status, or key personnel delivering SATCC-approved treatments;
  • cooperate with SATCC audits, reviews, or investigations if required.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD):

SATCC recommends that, in order to maintain continual professional development, therapists and employers are encouraged to engage in online refresher training every year and attend a one-day in-person training update every three years. In addition, employed therapists must inform their training provider of changes to their employer and venue where relevant.

  1. Use of the SATCC Logo

  • The SATCC logo is a registered collective mark and intellectual property of SATCC.
  • Approved training providers, therapists, and employers may display the logo as a stamp of approval, subject to these Terms and Conditions.
  • Misuse, unauthorised use, or continued use following withdrawal of approval is strictly prohibited and may result in legal action.
  1. Breach, Suspension and Termination

Where there is non-compliance with these Terms and Conditions, reputational risk to SATCC, or failure to uphold the SATCC Touch for Cancer Standards, the SATCC reserves the right, at its sole discretion and under the authority of the Board of Trustees, to:

  • suspend or remove therapists, training providers, or employers from its register;
  • withdraw permission to use the SATCC logo;
  • remove website listings; and/or
  • terminate approval status.

Parties subject to removal or suspension will be given notice and may appeal through the SATCC complaints and appeals process.

  1. Limitation of Liability

  • Training providers are independently accredited by industry-recognised accrediting bodies who agree to comply with the SATCC Standards.
  • The SATCC accepts no responsibility for errors, inaccuracies or omissions that may be contained in accreditation, training or therapies related to treatments provided for individuals affected by cancer.
  • Under no circumstances will the SATCC be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from actions, defects or omissions in the delivery of training or treatment services provided by third parties.
  • Nothing in this clause excludes or limits the SATCC’s liability for death or personal injury caused by its gross negligence, fraud, or wilful misconduct.
  1. Complaints and Appeals

The SATCC maintains a transparent complaints and appeals process for decisions relating to accreditation, approval, or removal from the register. Full details are available upon request.

  1. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

  1. Payment Terms

a) Registration Fee

At the point of booking your Touch for Cancer course with the Amethyst Trust, you will be asked to accept these Terms & Conditions and pay a registration fee of £25 per therapist attending training.

  • This fee registers you and/or your therapists with the SATCC for 1 year from the completion date of your training course.
  • Your business will be listed on the SATCCs Spa Finder (postcode search) so that you can be found by those looking for touch for cancer treatments in their area.
  • You will be given access to the SATCC’s digital brand folder of marketing assets which can be used on your website or treatment menus, in any digital communications like emails or newsletters, your social media channels or any PR and media activity.
  • Each therapist will be presented with an SATCC Touch for Cancer uniform pin.

b) Annual Subscription

One year following completion of your Touch for Cancer training course, your annual subscription becomes payable and renews automatically each year on the anniversary of the original training course completion date.

The annual subscription payment structure is as follows:
Spas: £250
Small Salons: £125
Independent Therapists: £25

On receipt of payment, you will be sent an SATCC acrylic plaque to display in your spa/salon to showcase your accreditation and SATCC approval.  Please note that continued use of the SATCC logo, inclusion on the SATCC’s Spa Finder and display of SATCC materials is conditional on full and timely payment of the annual subscription.
