Why the SATCC is needed
There is a misguided belief that massage can spread cancer... this has resulted in many spas refusing to treat those touched by cancer.
Experts predict that one in two people are going to experience some form of cancer in their lifetime. Sobering news and the main reason why now, more than ever, it is important that we provide safe and inclusive salon and spa treatments to those touched by cancer.
The good news is, recent changes in medical thinking and pioneering initiatives mean massages and facials aimed at cancer patients can now be performed with certainty, provided the correct protocols and training are in place. The SATCC is needed to ensure that this training is offered to an industry recognised standard throughout the UK and Ireland.
Our aim here is to provide three things. A direct means for consumers to find SATCC accredited, safe and welcoming salons, spas and therapists who offer treatments for those touched by cancer. A register of SATCC approved training providers for salons, spas and therapists to further their cancer education. And a source of inspiration, research and guidance for those scouring the internet for authenticity.
